What does your sign say?

How bad do you want to succeed????????

Over the last few months I have had the pleasure of speaking to many young entrepreneurs, aspiring restaurateurs and up and coming chefs. I am humbled by the fact that they have shared with me their hopes, goals and dreams:
• Opening their own Restaurant
• Opening their own Bakery
• Starting their own Personal Chef Business
• Operating their own Food Truck
• Opening their own Event Planning Company
• Becoming a Michelin Star Chef
• Becoming a Celebrity Chef on Network TV

So what is it going to take in order for YOU to realize YOUR dream? Simple, you must commit ALL of yourself—100% and nothing less. Here is some advice I would like to share with you:
• In his book, Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell popularized the idea that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to become successful (or even master) any skill. WORK HARD; learn the Technical and Financial Skills necessary to achieve that dream…….Be Relentless never stop pursuing your dream.
• Be careful who you let into your TRIBE. The people around you will determine your direction, your emotions, your knowledge, your money, your success and failure. Miscellaneous friends lead to miscellaneous results. If 4 of your friends are poor you are going to be the fifth. If 4 of your friends are criminals -chances are you are going to be the fifth. If 4 of your friends are hungry and ambitious – chances are you are going to be the fifth. If 4 of your friends are wise – chances are you are going to be the fifth. Surrounding yourself with the wrong people will stifle your dream and possibly ruin your life.
• Let us keep in mind the words of K. Jackson Brown, Jr. “Nothing is more expensive than a missed opportunity”. Do not sell yourself short. You are making an investment of Time, Treasure and Talent to achieve your dream….do not settle.

If anything will get in your way, what will it be?
• Low Expectations: You become complacent with your current situation.
• Perfectionism: You feel you are never reasonably prepared.
• Risk aversion: You persuade yourself that you are not ready.
• Procrastination: You believe you will have plenty of time later.
• Low Self Esteem: Lack of confidence and belief in yourself.
• “I’m too ________” victim mentality that keeps you trapped believing that you are too young, too old, too different, too average, etc.

In order to succeed in realizing your dream, you must GET YOUR MIND RIGHT. How bad do you want to succeed???????? In the words of Eric Thomas, “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.”
